THIBS would like to thank all of those that have donated time and effort in making this project a reality. We could not be at this stage if all of our colleagues had not taken the time to forward on our letters to others, the power of word of mouth is amazing! We would not be here had so many of you not taken a chance and believed in supporting us! This project is truly a people's project. Thank you very much to our great Board of Directors and staff. You are what makes THIBS what it is, and will be.

We would especially like to thank Xenia and Chandi who keep the place clean and burglar free in our absence. Thanks Karim Ghonem for helping Drew with the new template for the site. Also, Dale and Chris Richart for helping us get started on paper. And great thanks go out to Dorell Phillips for her artistic creativity in helping design our logo. Very much thanks to CJ Ralph for assisting us in obtaining our permits. Muchas Gracias to Dr. Nalini Nadkarni, for her patience, tolerance and guidance in starting this endeavor. Thanks to Joselynn Plank for all her energy and hard work getting the place built, and on the web. Our new site owes a lot to those long hours spent in front of the computer with you, as well as some of the remaining text! Muchas Gracias to Luis and Iveth for keeping the building standing in our absencein the beginning. Thanks to John and Kathy Erb for their guidance in starting out in Costa Rica. So many thanks to Michael McMahon and Victoria Vongsaveng for helping us build THIBS. Thank you very much Dave Shaw, for your positive attitude and volunteering your manual labor. Thanks to Sam Willis and Emil Hillding for taking time out to come and work on the Institute. Much gratitude goes out to Aja Woodrow, for being our interim "research director" in 2002. Many thanks and much appreciation goes to our families, for we could not be here if it were not for you (literally).

Dedication

The Herman Institute of Biological Studies is dedicated to Dr. Steven G. Herman. A wonderful, patient, enthusiastic educator and ardent conservationist. Many students, researchers, professors, deans and others have been influenced by Steve and we hope that many more are influenced by him. His love and respect for birds, nature and education have guided many of us in our lives, and in turn we have grown to love our Father Wingbeat. We hope that Steve will continue teaching and loving for many years to come.
